Time to Embrace Your Serious Side

One again Sam Stone is back to take on the bad guys as only he knows how. As with the other instalments, Serious Sam 3 BFE features great graphics and smooth game play. Is this enough to make the game a hit? Read on to find out.

Gamers are invited to follow Sam Stone as he explores the cool world with guns blazing all the way. The character has plenty of personality, which usually presents itself in a series of quips. While these quips can be a bit funny at first, they can get rather annoying after a while and players may well want to put a gag on Sam.

One of the cool things about the game is that a wide range of secrets are hidden on different levels. Discovering these secrets can be a lot of fun and players will also be tasked with figuring out exactly what the secrets are and how best to use them.

Players who have played the other Serious Sam games may well find that the novelty of the game has worn off by now. While the levels are new and present fresh challenges, the game play is almost identical and there really isn’t all that much to discover here.

There are plenty of cool weapons to use in the game and blasting the bad guys into smithereens can be a lot of fun. Unfortunately, there is not really much of a combat element to the game and most of the shooting and other fighting happens at a bit of a distance. This diminishes the action element of the game to a certain extent and can make gamers feel a bit like they are watching the action unfold in front of them rather than actually taking part in it.

Despite its title, Serious Same 3 BFE really doesn’t take itself too seriously. While there is not really a lot of combat in the game, exploring the well designed and very detailed levels can be a lot of fun, while discovering the secrets along the way adds an extra element that gamers are sure to love.

Pros

  • Lots of cool weapons to choose
  • A whole host of enemies to defeat
  • Plenty of interesting secrets to discover
  • Great graphics

Cons

  • Not much of a combat feel to the game
  • The campaign takes a while to get going
